Hi all,

I'm about to migrate one of our Sims server to new hardware and can I just check that I'll need the registration password to re-register Solus with our SIMS support team? (BT Lancs in this case). I did ask for the password but they said the only option would be to pay for an hours standard support so they can remote on and type in the password!

Thanks

Funny, you should post this, we have just had the same thing, BT LS refusing to give us the password, saying the Solus 3 Site Registration Password is the property of Capita and so we (the school) are not entitled to know it!

Doesn't help, but as a school dealing direct with Capita I set our Solus3 registration password when we installed Solus3 - it's not in any handy migration/notes documents left on the server anywhere?

The migration guide says at step 39 that you need to re-register the site so that it gets the security keys. Don't suppose you can bypass BTLS and get Capita to reset the password for you?

Have tried that I'm afraid and as soon as Capita realised we were a Lancashire school they just said sorry can't help you, you need to speak to BT LS :-(

No, I've tried that in quite a few schools. Capita say all requests must come from Lancashire County Council (BTLS), I had a very long converstation with them at the end of which they said their hands were tied.

BTLS are getting alot worse over the SOLUS3 passwords. It was set by who ever happened to install SOLUS3 first for the site and they are now using that fact to try and force schools to retian SIMS Hardware support from them.

I do have a school or two that I export the updates from another school for so that we can update them without SOLUS3. BTLS complain that its not logged correctly but they know the solution to that issue, just release the password.
