Hi All,

Anyone else using Pro Desktop with Windows 10 at there schools?

Whenever we run it and "extrude" a shape, the software crashes. This happens on all the Design staff machines and all student machines across the school.

Any ideas?

Hello,

I have tried it as an admin (both domain as myself & the local builtin administrator and doesnt work)

Found a Windows 7 machine in the school and it works fine on there

The registry setting to disable graphics acceleration is a per-user setting so you will need to use something like GPP to apply it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PTC\ProDESKTOP\8.0\General]
"UseGeneric"=dword:00000001

IIRC, this was the fix when I had the same issue on our Windows 7 PCs. I don't use Pro/Desktop anymore. My school switched to SketchUp a long time ago.

Hi All,

Thanks for this, we found that an easy way to fix this is to put them into Windows 7 compatibility mode. However, is there an easier way of doing this (perhaps via SCCM or group policy) to change the compatibility mode of that application on all machines, rather than going to 60 machines one by one and changing the setting?

Thanks,

Charlie

This is the registry setting that will do what you want. It's probably going to be easier to apply it via GPP.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers]
"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\PTC\\ProDESKTOP 8.0\\Program\\ProD.exe"="~ WIN7RTM"
