Anyone using these for kids, particularly primary or too slow?

They're absolutely fine, bang for buck is right up there and typically perform similarly to the same spec core i3 at near half the price in some cases.

Get yourself a few examples of the models you're being offered/quotes for and look up the passmark results for them and compare to the next level up core i3. Obviously it's always better to overspec to make them last that little bit longer but assuming you specify for a solid state drive too then they will last a good long time.

We've got got similar type devices - Dell Latitude 3189's with an Intel Pentium 1.1GHz. I've found it's too slow for what they expect the device to do. The fact it runs at 100% usage a fair amount of the time proves it's not fit for purpose IMHO.

I should think so, a quick check of passmark shows those barely nudge over 1000 marks. That puts them on equal footing with some of our remaining 10 year old Athlons.

As said, make sure you check the model number to get an idea of what they're capable of. Thankfully there's no Gold's at 1.1ghz

I'd say the Pentium Gold processors are fairly competent cpus for student devices. My minimum when buying equipment is a passmark of 2,000, so this is not bad at all.

Did you go with any of these devices in the end? If so what was your opinion of them?
