HDMI Connection Issues - Please Help!

I've just taken delivery of some HP ProBook 450 G6 units for the teachers, but I'm having a real issue connecting them to our SMART 4065 boards. The 450's have both HDMI and USB-C.

I've tried HDMI to HDMI, tried several new cables, connected PC to Wall Socket and PC to SMART screen but no image is displayed.

I've also tried USB-C to HDMI Adapter with several new HDMI cables, connected PC to Wall Socket and PC to SMART screen but, still no image is displayed.

I've tried the above connections when the laptop is switched on and also shut down, then connected, then boot up. But nothing seems to work.

I've gone through the drivers, but had none that needed updating.

 

When I connect the SMART board, its not shown in Playback Devices when you right click volume

 

Laptops are running Win 10 Edu build 1607

 

Can anyone suggest what I can do next?

 

Touch works OK though

When you say you've gone through the drivers, have you looked at the on board graphics card drivers too? If they are not installed properly, or at all that can give multiscreen and HDMI sound issues.

 

//edit just looked and those laptops can come with descrete Nvidia GPU as well as the on board intel, so you may need to download and install Geforce drivers from Nvidia website.

Are you getting no signal or a blank screen?

Is Windows extending the display, rather than cloning it?

if its like teh discrete gpu i had on my alienware the "onboard" could NOT output to the hdmi only the nvidia card coluld use it so it needed the drivers for that installing

The SMART panel is blank. I've tried the Display option, PC suggested re-installing driver - done that though.

Now rebuilding PC to Win 10 Pro, see if that will solve it.

If you haven't already uninstall both devices and tick delete the drivers and reboot. Windows may well install what it thinks are the best drivers for you, but that's just their opinion! You could then download and install the drivers for that laptop. I'd suggest doing that directly from HP and then if that doesn't work get them from Intel and Nvidia. Also just to rule out some weird mismatch between the Smart panels just connect to an HDMI monitor and see if it outputs to that.

i doubt edu/pro will make any odds what i suspect is more likely is if you are using ltsb/c or a really old win 10 base the nvidia drivers might require say 1709+ and not everything works on ltsb/c

 

its also worth making sure you try hps nvidia drivers not the generic sometimes the generic ones dont work on laptops

I know years ago we had some oddities with GPOs and Windows 7 Pro v Enterprise. That's the only real time that was an issue.

 

Has it been tried on another SMARTboard to see if it works, or might be a dodgy SMARTboard?

first thing i would is check the drivers are all update first thing second thing what i would do is see how long the hdmi cable is if is over 3 meters change that third thing is low the screen size on the laptop it might be to high for the hdmi out put

 

if then dose not work have a word with smart see what they have got to say
