New storage solutions

Hey we are looking to replace our hp direct attached storage 600 2 host and 5tb in each draw. Hosts are running the os all the VMS and data are on the das array.

 

At the moment high availability is a manual thing and the das keeps breaking down.

 

Any suggestions on what I could move to.

How many hosts have you got and what connectivity options i.e. FibreChannel, iSCSI or only DAS i.e. SAS connections. What physical hosts are you running and what HyperVisor.

 

For instance if you had FibreChannel, FCoE, iSCSI you could have this split from 2 different NICs on the hosts, 2 different Switches and 2 different controllers this would give you some resilience in case of single point of failure.

We use a HP 2052 SAN with 2 controllers attached to two switches via redundant nic's to 3 hosts running vmware each with redundant nic to the switching. Overall this means that a switch, or a nic on either the hosts or the controllers can fail or a controller in the SAN can fail and we would still have a working system.

currently Dual Port 6Gb/s SAS to each server, we have 2 server with one server having 4 vms and the other having 2 vms running in hyperv. total storage space on each side of the DAS is 5TB
