[1903, au] Unattend.xml not changing language to en-GB

I've been deploying Windows 10 for a number of years now and all previous builds that I've deployed, I've managed to set the OS language settings via Unattend.xml from MDT within SCCM, which is used during the MDT Task Sequence. I've installed the 1903 ADK and modified the Unattend.xml (and distributed it and created a TS that uses it). However 1903 (English International ISO) doesn't appear to be picking it up and the OS is defaulting to en-US.

I have noticed that when a non-admin logs in for the first time, they are prompted for admin credentials to install 'Optional Features', which I am presuming is a language pack. I don't get the prompt if I log on as an admin first, though the OS language doesn't change.

 

Has anyone else encountered this issue with language settings in 1903?

I’m not 100% it’ll be this, but which ISO are you using for Windows 10? If it’s the normal ‘English’ one it doesn’t have the en-GB language pack.

I knew there was something I was missing from the original post! I am using the English International ISO. I've updated the post to include that.

Just tested the en-intl ISO (SW_DVD9_Win_Pro_10_1903_64BIT_Eng_Intl_Pro_Ent_EDU_N_MLF_X22-02892) with and SCCM\MDT task sequence and the region settings are set correctly set to English UK.

I also don't see this. The last time I saw this was when I used a en-US ISO.

Just tested the en-intl ISO (SW_DVD9_Win_Pro_10_1903_64BIT_Eng_Intl_Pro_Ent_EDU_N_MLF_X22-02892) with and SCCM\MDT task sequence and the region settings are set correctly set to English UK.

How are you setting the region settings? The only option in the default settings that I can see is to set the time zone, which I have done to London.

Cheers, I think I may see what's causing my issue! It looks like I have incorrectly modified the InputLocale. Yours is:

     0809:00000809
     en-GB
     en-GB
     en-GB
   

 

Mine was:

     en-GB
     en-GB
     en-GB
     en-GB
   

 

I must have changed that by mistake when modifying the file. Now I've changed that, I will re-image the machine and what happens.

I can confirm that the wrong InputLocale information was causing the issue. Changed that and first re-image saw the correct en-GB keyboard layout and date format. Cheers again.

Hi all, can any of you tell me if I can create a answer file for language only and add it to my TS in SCCM? My TS is all set the way I want but system language is set default to en-US, but I want en-GB.

I assume you've included MDT with SCCM? If so, you can adjust unattend.xml to specify the en-GB language settings.

 

Another adjustment to make: In the Apply Windows Settings section, specify the Timezone and set it to UTC+00:00) Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London. This will set your OS to the correct time zone, and thus time.
