Morning,

Been a while but school are finally getting a new server, but what do i need licencing wise?

looking at server 2019

we don't have a EES agreement, the school has always bought computers with pro licences on them and then the licences for office from the council

so what do I actually need to buy?

I know I'll need the licence for server 2019,

but do I need cals aswell? or are they part of buying pro licences?

Is there anything else we need?

spoke to a unhelpful licence lady the other day and I'm now more confused than I was before.

Cheers

You'll need to buy Client Access Licenses separately, enough to cover all computers in your school. If you're going virtual, you need a server license for every VM.

I'd speak to a reputable supplier - there's plenty around on edugeek - to find out exactly what you need as MS do change the rules quite often.

For starters, I'd get in touch with VeryPC @VeryPC_Colin_M for a new server, or ICT Direct @ICTDirect_Dave if you're OK with refurbished.
