For students in an exam room already under pressure, the last thing they want is to be stressed by an invigilator.

 

But according to some experiences shared on social media, invigilators can be a big distraction.

 

Exams might need invigilators - they have to check that no-one is cheating and who else is going to sprint like their life depends on it to pick up that pencil you dropped on the floor?

 

But some students would rather that they stayed silent and out of sight and stopped disturbing their concentration...

 

Will never forget that time in my alevel exam when the invigilator was picking dead skin off her nasty toes...

We have more students now requesting quiet single rooms, than we have rooms to put them all... over half of our students have an exam need one way or another.

Unless they have a SEN or other need that can be proven through an assessment - isn't that technically disadvantaging the students sitting in the halls with the rest of them? I'd say that is really bowing down to the snowflake generation then putting them in a quiet single room. Another argument is that's not preparing them for the real world either of open-plan offices where quiet no longer exists.
