Need to spec two devices, one for electronic signage in reception and another for use in one of the offices

 

Been looking at a Samsung Syncmaster 460P but seems to have an odd native resolution which none of our computers delivers

 

Any suggestions? Can spend anywhere up to 1800 on each

Can't really recommend a display but have you tried installing the Omega version of your graphics card drivers?. They will allow you to choose a lot more options for resolution than the standard drivers, plus they are usually faster.

These depend on how good the tv is at covering up the sins of the video card. I tried using these on an old laptop that is hooked up to my TV, to get the desired resolution out of the card the drivers use a higher resolution mode that is does support and then only outputs a picture on the area that you actually want. Unfortunately this requires your tv to be able to pick out the active part of the image not the actual output of the graphics card. I only know this as my dirty Sony TV could not.

I use Samsung screens for signage - make sure you get the 'industrial' ones rather than the consumer ones (better grade of screen which is less susseptable to burn in/overheating).

We are using LG screens currently for signage and as Ric says make sure you get consumer ones. We got a good deal on our LG's from misco at the time. so might be worth checking them out.

Graphics card does not support?

 

Remember display properties will only show the resolutions the currently connected plug and pray monitor can display. This is not the list of the resolutions the graphics card is cabable of.

Hi There,

 

We supply these into schools and have never had any resolution issues. Generally if your are running 1024/768 etc you will be fine although if in doubt you are better off arranging a demo. We generally ask Samsung to go direct into the school.

Not entirely sure. Our largest monitors are 19" jobbies. I know that the built in graphics will do 1600*1200 but not sure on 13xx*768

Tested one over the weekend with a 20" jobbie, it doesn't! BUM!

 

Looks like a new computer with gfx card to go with it *grumble grumble*
