Hi,

Our school currently has O365 managed by our local authority which I believe is in one big tenancy with other schools. Has anyone got any experience of moving to your own O365 tenancy with moving mailboxes etc..? Creating my own tenancy and using AADS to take our current AD structure across is fairly straight forward, I'm just a bit puzzled how I'm going to get our users mailboxes without access to the tenancy.

Any help much appreciated!

Best way would be to work with the people who run it now. What rights do you have currently?

Can you impersonate users? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/office/developer/exchange-server-2010/bb204095(v=exchg.140)

If not, can you delegate everyone's mailbox to an admin user? https://help.bittitan.com/hc/en-us/articles/115008259428-How-do-I-migrate-to-Exchange-or-Office-365-using-delegation-

Are you currently syncing with AD?

We were in a similar situation with the LA. We created a new tennant with our own domain and setup all new users mailboxes. Then the LA reset the passwords on an agreed date to allow us to bulk migrate. Not perfect but the best we could get from the LA. It actually worked very well and transferred everything we needed across.
