[1809, ou] Task-bar pinned items disappearing.

Since yesterday, we've had staff complain that programs they've pinned to the task bar keep disappearing.

The computer seems to think they're still pinned, as if I right click on a previously pinned program it says "Unpin from taskbar".

Sometime if they pin a new item (or unpin and repin an item) all their pined icons come back, but sometimes nothing changes. The computer thinks the programs are pinned but nothing appears on the taskbar.

 

Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone know of a fix?

There are long and distinguished discussions on the support forums. no-one appears to know why, but there are a number of 'fixes' out there. The easiest and the one with the apparent highest success rate is probably to drag the taskbar to somewhere else and then put it back.

 

I've had the same problem with the whole start menu. the start menu thinks it's redirected, the folder behind it is present and complete, the user can search the start menu and everything, but it's just not there to see. Drag the taskbar somewhere else, put it back, everything is there.

 

Go Figure.

The "drag the taskbar" thing sounds like probably forcing a refresh the same as pinning another item.

Permanent until it happens again...

 

I've stopped being contacted about it now, everyone knows how to fix it!
