I really enjoy seeing solutions like this, it's how I learn :-)

 

Just a thought...

 

How does does this respond if SIMS was open, or even opened during the update?

- A suggestion for the above scenario could be to rename the pulsar file prior to the update?

- Potentially check for a running pulsar process before the update?? and kill the process if appropriate??

The script is only really designed to run during startup, at which point obviously SIMS wouldn't be running. If you want to adapt it to push updates at other times then yes, you could have some mechanism to work around this. However, if the server has been updated no SIMS clients will work beyond the login screen so I doubt it'd be a major issue.
