JordanT91 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I'm putting a 4 year old screen (NOT a TV, it doesn't have a tuner) in the staff room, and I thought it would be nice to have the ability to watch Freeview on it. In my mind, I thought I could get an HDMI dongle with either a built in antenna (we're in a strong signal area) or an antenna connection but I can't find one. Does such a thing exist?
bald_pig Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I don't think they do anything smaller than the usual freeview stb.
Danp Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 What are you wanting to show? What about a cheap Android TV box?
JordanT91 Posted May 22, 2019 Author Posted May 22, 2019 What are you wanting to show? What about a cheap Android TV box? A news channel primarily, but any Freeview channel really. The problem we have is our internet connection isn't the best, and having an Android box or NowTV stick or anything else will probably come through with very poor quality at times and possibly impact on other users.
TomHD Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 (edited) Could a PCI TV Tuner card work? Run on a PC and run HDMI to your screen? You can get USB versions too, with some models allowing the use of an external antenna Have a look here - Hauppauge UK | Freeview TV Tuner Product Selector Edited May 22, 2019 by TomHD
bald_pig Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Why would you do that over an stb though? https://www.argos.co.uk/product/6746320 Is it just me or is everyone trying to make this complicated?

I would choose that route but was just offering alternate solutions And if its the form factor of set top boxes that is putting OP off you can get some really small ones that can be hidden behind the screen but no idea how well a remote would work in that setup Edited May 22, 2019 by TomHD
