JJonas Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 Just set up our first six Chromebooks. At the moment they are all in one department and getting rave reviews from students and staff. Which is great. If we get more is it possible for me to group them by department in Google Admin. So I can have different software depending on where they are located?
ThatBoringBloke Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 Yep. In device management, Chrome devices, click on the top level Organisation on the left hand side, Create new Sub-Organisation.
colly72 Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 Stating the obvious but just be aware of device-based OUs vs User OUs and the settings in your Gsuite device management https://support.google.com/a/answer/4352075?hl=en

Android apps in particular present a problem with shared Chromebooks, as they install per user, so will quickly eat up and local storage if you have a few Apps and a lot of users.

Agree with this. Fine for 1:1 or staff who use a single device. But for shared class sets it doesn't work. Until Google either allow app caching, or better yet assign apps by device, Android Apps in a shared environment just isn't there yet.

So presumably I can tell the Chromebooks to clean up after a user logs off via a setting somewhere in G-Suite?
