sippo Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 We are looking at purchasing a cloud based anti virus so we can manage across all our sites. Sophos endpoint, at £4.95 per device for 3 years, is a contender. Any other recommendations? Any feedback on Sophos is also appreciated.
Achandler Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 The issue we, well maybe just me, have with Sophos is that it is more difficult to guarantee the AV goes on, or is reported if not. For example on the Enterprise Console, the computers sync from AD, so computer with no AV and you know. Sophos Central, a computer can get imaged, AV could not go on for whatever reason, and there is no built in way of reporting that. We are looking at writing somethign to compare AD lists of PCs to of Sophos Central ones to get around the issue. However, PCs able to isolate themselves etc is good.
colly72 Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 We use Sophos Central here and I love it. For me, it's much easier to use than the old Enterprise Console - it's really simple to create and apply policies to different groups of users or devices. I'd agree with @Achandler about it not being so easy to identify if a computer doesn't have it but you can use Group Policy to push out the install.
Achandler Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 I just wish the AD sync tool they have could put the PCs in as well so ones without AV were easy to identify incase the automatic install failed for any reason. Then I would be much happier, I work in none education environment though with multiple offices etc where these extras would be better. It's made our standalone laptops much better to sort out though, as we can see they are reporting back as oppose to the enterprise console where it wasn't really possible.
southhamster Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 Used Sophos central for about 9 months and overall very happy. Endpoint on everything and intercept X on admin pcs and staff laptops. The policies for monitoring/banning particular hardware eg unencrypted USB devices or applications is brilliant. It even unearthed an old laptop that still had office2007 on which we'd forgotten about. Occasionally had to reinstall it but overall very good.
sippo Posted May 16, 2019 Author Posted May 16, 2019 (edited) Thanks all. With regards to servers, did you purchase the server licenses or does endpoint suffice? Can you also add multiple domains to one central account? Edited May 16, 2019 by sippo
Achandler Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 We have server licenses seperate. Yeah you can have multiple domains, machines on no domain etc. iPhones, iPads annyoingly won't charge or connect unless they are allowed as a peripheral due to how they advertise themselves. That might not be a problem for you.
howartp Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 The sync tool is soon going to sync Computers. NYCC schools just moving to Central and we asked it in one of the sessions with Sophos. 1
Achandler Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 From my communications with Sophos, which isn't always great. They don't seem to think computer syncing will be added anytime soon.
