Samm Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Hi, We had some electrical works over the weekend and had to power everything off, after we powered everything back on it seemed happy. But we have come in this morning and tried to view the settings on a GPO and get the following error: "An appropriate resource file could not be found for file \\PHS-DC-2.domain.org.uk\SysVol\domain.org.uk\Policies\PolicyDefinitions\AppHVSI.admx (error = 2): The system cannot find the file specified." We get about 20 of these errors for various missing admx files. I have check the SYSVOL and all the files it is moaning about are there. All our polices seem to be applying fine just can't edit them. I have tried recovering the Policy Definitions from a backup but we get the same error. Am a bit lost so any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Sam
PlantHead Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2688272/wrong-error-message-for-missing-adml-files I had something similar a while ago with Chrome. I had copied the Chrome.admx with the en-GB folder to Policy definitions and then couldn't work with the policy. I ended up having to copy the en-US folder instead of the en-GB folder.
Samm Posted May 7, 2019 Author Posted May 7, 2019 Thanks, i had that same issue with chrome earlier in the year. It took me ages to work out what was going on! I think i have solved it now, i recovered the entire Policy Definitions folder from a backup of a few days ago and it now works. It looks as if one of the admx templates had corrupted or got damaged some how.
