Jaan Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Anybody use Sage 200c client Our users don't have the ability to download/save or launch executables of any kind. We use redirected start menu and desktops, and 99.9% of our software runs from program files, a authorised network location or a c:\ root folder that has the relevant security\applocker permissions in place. We also use Google Chrome. Sage are asking us to "change the settings" and policies to allow the use on "Click Once" so that a end user can download, save, execute and install to a c:\users and appdata locations. We use redirected start menu and desktops. I've asked, and they don't have a standalone option for this software to be either installed via gpo or to installed on the system as a local admin, for use by all users that use the machine (it installs to each users local profile). How do you guys do it?
supportman Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Sage is a hosted solution I believe, not cloud. Then again I think PS financials does exactly the same thing! Not sure on the solution, maybe just put the link in their my documents?

free780 Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Click Once is fine for 1:1 devices or if the vendor actually signs the exes. You can allow the exes if signed without allowing all click Once applications. However users will have to launch it themselves or push a GPP shortcut to the start menu to the URL. I only have an older (2016) version of sage. It took a couple days of powershell scripting to get it to silent install. PSF also seemed surprised our finance staff don't have admin rights so maybe it's just something with finance software. If they want it to auto update, just do what chrome does and whitelist the domains needed.
mavhc Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Can't see a problem with having financial data on an insecure computer, nope. Time to publicly shame them as being insecure, to the twitters!

This is where i'm upto now. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/209525-sage-200c-e-banking-service-not-populating.html I authorised the "sage" signature in applocker to get it install and working.
fiza Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Does anyone know if SAGE will work via RDS? With talk of schools closing and staff working from home I am looking at making SAGE available from our RDS Server.
Boredguy Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 If your using SAGE 200 Cloud, then you do not need to worry about RDS as your staff could run it it at home anyway as it's just a web site launched via an App. It should work via an RDS session depending on how you have it configured. If you let users have a traditional desktop experience it should be fine, if you just serve it as a RDS RemoteApp, then it might be more interesting 1

Do your users get full desktop?
sted Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Sounds like your not using RemoteApps like we are? Do your users get full desktop? yes full desktop. but id bet if you log in once as that user with a desktop it will work as a remote app afterwards
Julian Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 I had Sage 200C working, now Sage have done an update, and it has stopped working! Group Policy (Applocker) on the user profile is a pain.
pete Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 (edited) If you're running RemoteApp only, publish a RemoteApp that calls the *.appref-ms file in a .cmd file. There're no requirement for them to have logged in with a full desktop that way. In the below screenshot we've copied the link from someone's desktop, created a C:\Program Files\Sage 200 folder and placed the shortcut and .cmd in there. edit: it also handles update to the application without issue.
