Currently having an issue where users can't send from a shared mailbox even though they have the "send as" permission. If they type in the address to send from the shared mailbox it still appears in their personal sent items folder and therefore doesn't appear in the conversation view. Any ideas how to resolve this.

So is the problem that the sent emails don't appear the shared mailbox's sent items rather than them not being able to "send as"?

If so, there's a setting for this. From the 365 admin console go to Groups > Shared Mailboxes and select the mailbox you want to edit. Under Sent items, go to edit and make sure "Copy items sent as this mailbox" is checked/ turned on.

This will put sent items into the shared mailbox's "sent items" folder.

hope this helps.

That's a great feature I didn't know about either Rob_D. Historically I've always got around this issue by setting up the mail profile as the shared mailbox. When the new mail account wizard asks for an email address, type in the shared one instead of the users email address. The only place to use the user's details is when prompted for credentials. This makes the mail profile under the shared mailbox and you can open the user's mailbox as an additional mailbox.

Of course, this means all sent items go into the shared mailbox instead - which might just be moving your problem.

The registry trick worked when the mailboxes were on prem. The method described by rob_d works for office365 mailboxes.
