Forgot password issue

I am a IT Technician & I have a Laptop which is very old & have forgot the administrator password so I cannot login.

 

I was wondering if any one could help & give me a response on how to get past this issue.

I use a bootable linux floppy, worth its weight in gold for getting into older machines

 

I won't pretend to know or like *nix, but it walks you through it with idiot-proof instructions. I can send if need be, but one of the above should doodle-do the job.
