Advice needed please... SharePoint as a VLE, but what type

Hi

I am in the process of designing our new VLE moving away from Moodle and moving to SharePoint, however I want to make sure I use the right fit template when creating the new site collection, as I have the choice between Collaboration and Enterprise and drilling down within those I have further choices, I think the option to choose would be [Enterprise] - Team Site - SharePoint Online configuration or should it be [Collaboration] - Team Site (classic experience).

 

 

Apologies if this isn't the right place to put this but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've not used them myself (and I'm not on commission!) but you might want to have a look at Salamandersoft - it could be a tried and tested route but a slightly different approach to entirely building it yourself from scratch.

My suggestion would to work with a partner with expertise in Sharepoint online and all things Office 365. You may want to consider Microsoft Teams instead of Sharepoint, i know of a few FE colleges in process of moving from Moodle in favour of Teams

Ahh right thank you for this, I will take a look at Teams.

If you are starting from scratch after years of using an older moodle site, google classroom will be the way forward IMHO. It's just so much easier to use and you can really drive staff (and pupil) involvement faster due to the minimal training required.

 

SharePoint is.....rather less intuitive.
