Scenario,

Staff have laptops, each laptop has a local profile for the network account with synchronization turned on for offline files of the Redirected My documents ares.

Staff members have iPods, iTunes stores in my music, this is using serious amounts of space on our servers.

Does anyone know how i can set to My Music and possibly to have a Different Redirection to My Documents.

Would be great if anyone knows an ADM which can do it.

Try changing the value of HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\My Music with a login script?

I would love to do this with an ADM that would copy the files there, Logon scripts will be fine but just becomes a bit of a pain

using offline folders, there's a thing somewhere where u can add file types to be excluded from synchronization. might be in group policy. cant remember...

Also you can attack this from a policy standpoint. They shouldn't be loading unauthorised software/music on school owned laptops anyway.

You can use this VBS script

Set objShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
Set objNetwork = CreateObject("WScript.Network")
strUserName = objNetwork.UserName
strRegKey = "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\My Music"
strRedirectionPath = "T:\My Music"

' Write the new Favorites path
objShell.RegWrite strRegKey, strRedirectionPath

' Variable Destruction
Set objShell = Nothing
Set objNetwork = Nothing

T: is our home drive just change that to your home drive letter.
