Installing Windows Server after changing Raid Controller

Wondering if someone could help with this problem I am having installing Windoes Server 2016 on a Dell PowerEdge R630. The server came with a non-raid controller (think it was a H330) I've replaced this card with a Dell H730P raid controller.

 

After installing, I configured all the raid virual drives and proceeded to install Windows Server 2016 via USB. However, when I try installing Windows Server 2016 I can't seem to do it. When I select the OS drive I get the message "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one..."

 

I have tried all sorts, DISKPART to configure the volume, adding the drivers for the raid controller dur Windows Server 2016 setup but nothing seems to work.

 

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to install Windows Server?

 

I tired to do the install via the Lifecycle Controller but I'm stuck here because it only recognises FAT32 formatted drives and the Windows Server ISO is over 5GB in size.

at a guess the boot media dosent have the correct drivers for the raid card. you can from the lifecycle controller install froma dvd or even a network file share iirc. other than that might be worth trying to install it from mdt and making sure that your mdt boot image has the correct raid drivers installed

How do I get the drivers on the boot media? Is it just a matter of putting the driver files in to a folder on the bootable Windows Server 2016 USB?

 

I can't use a DVD because I can't burn the ISO image as the file is too big, unless I use a dual layer DVD which we haven't got. The server isn't on the network and I didn't want it on the network but I'm starting to think I might have to.

I Have Put the Driver Files in a folder on the boot media before, although this was a HP Server, But it should work if you was to install from a usb

its been a while but iirc to add drivers to the boot file you need to play around with dism but beyond remembering it was a pita i cant remember specifics

In a custom install, you can select to load drivers from a dvd or usb drive, maybe even a network share?

Tried that option and it still wouldn't work. I am trying the DISM route now, lets see how that goes.

also there is a way to get the entire iso on a usb, I seem to remember the tool will create a boot fat 32 partition but also create another partition using NTFS - do a search for 'install server 2016 from usb' in Goolge

Yes! Got it working... thank you. In the end I used an app called Rufus. Created the bootable USB for me including the FAT32 bootable partition.
