Hi,

I have been asked to look into doing a management course and was suggested the NPQML by my line manager.

I am an IT Manager in a Trust of 2 large primary schools in Northumberland with a team of 3 currently.

Would this course be suitable or is it mainly aimed at people who do some teaching as well?

Are there any courses similar people have done and could recommend?

Cheers,

I would have said not as it is a very school, curriculum based course. Take a look at the GOV page about it and it even says things like "teaching and curriculum excellence". Maybe they said "like" as an example they knew of, wandering if there is something similar in the IT world?

I have been looking and not found anything except expensive courses that I have no idea if they add value. There are orgs like the Charted Management Institute (CMI) that offer qualifications, through learning providers, but they normally work with an employer so are looking for groups of 5 minimum, costs are about £1500 per person. OU might be a possibility but even more expensive. They do BA (Honours) Business Management (Leadership Practice) but again, cost is going to be a massive factor here (£17k worth).

Basically, if you find something please report back as I would be interested, personally and in supporting my team.

@KoolTech

I've done the NLM level 3 and also NVQ level 5 and they were free from the local college if i remember rightly...

I like "free".....

Found them really worth while I would recommend...
