Cannot add office 365 account to Outlook 2016

Really stumped with this one- cannot add my office 365 account to outlook 2016. Have removed profiles from outlook, have removed user profiles and rebuild the machine.

 

Multi factor authentication is turned off.

Have tried adding it on an unfiltered connection.

Have tried the regedit to disable WAM.

Tried resetting users email password.

Checked with ISP and nothing is being blocked.

 

Any one have any ideas?

We had a few initially that did this . Found out that if we changed the email address to the user account address it worked: instead of asmith@ try smitha@ , might not be the problem but worth a try

What's the setup with autodiscover and the server? are you on-premise, hybrid or purely o365

 

If you create a outlook profile with no mailbox, then CTRL + Right Click on outlook and select Test Email autoconfiguration (unticking the guesssmart boxes and entering the email address and PW) does it show anything useful?

Re-reading actually, more basic question - is the account licensed and can you access via webmail!

Yep is licensed and works fine on office 365

Is office 2016 fully up to date? have you tried office CTR at all?

It'll be autodiscover. or DNS. or Autodiscover and DNS.

Have had this in the past when we used Squid as a proxy for NTLM passthough, now we have a transparent proxy all is well.
