can anyone recommend me a good company in east midlands to get a quote for wireless point to point connection to another another site approx 1km away?

We are in Leicester.

We need something very reliable looking at ubiquiti or millimetre wave kit on 2GB connection.

We've done a couple of links ourselves using PowerBeam 5AC Gen2's, one was line of sight over 100m that runs at 400Mb/s and another that is 600m non line of sight through trees and a block of flats and that runs at 160Mb/s (sports field pavillion).

Both links cost £200 each all-in and although the non line of sight one was a bit more fiddly, the AirOS alignment tools that come with the dish firmware makes it fairly easy to get them pointing at each other.

You wouldn't know you weren't on the main LAN at either remote site

We got our electrician to run an Ethernet socket up on to the roof at either end and then got them to mount the devices and point them at each other until the signal strength indicator on the back was at the strongest. It's been up for around 3 years now.

Quite easily to do yourself these days if you have head for heights, if not have a chat with a local aerial installer!

I used this tool to work out distances and then used Google Earth to check for any hills in the way which scuppered my plans. You don't want massive poles unless you can install a tower frame as the wind can knock them out of alignment then you got to go back up but if I had a head of heights I would install myself.
