Hi all,

Just working through syncing us up to G Suite. We've got this working through Azure AD, so users are automatically created and synced across, only needing AADC to run. This looks good, despite the weirdness involved with authorising and getting it to work. However, there's a couple of small things I'd like to do, and most of the documentation is patchy or baffling.

Users are showing as 'Firstname Surname'. I want users to appear as 'DisplayName' - that attribute is synced to G Suite via AAD. Any way of doing this?

We have the Department field in AD used to distinguish between staff and students. This is synced to AAD and now G Suite. Can I use this to automatically add users to the classroom_teachers group? If so, how?

Thanks!

i dont use the ad sync thing, but you can use GAM to populate google groups, does the ADsync thing put the staff into a seperate OU in google?

i use a script to automatically put our users into the relevant groups from their google OU locations

Hmmmmmm. Well, my solutions to both seem to be:

Changed the firstname attribute in AD to 'Mr/Mrs X' instead of their forename. Not a problem I think, just a bit of click-work.

Second one - my AD Teachers group has now synced across. I've added this to the 'classroom teachers' group. Should mean that any newly created teachers who get this group by default also become classroom teachers in G Suite without any other input. If not, I'm sure I can set my Teachers group to have the same roles as the 'classroom teachers' group.
