Connecting SUSE 9.3 to Internet via ISA Server 2000

Trying to setup a local Proxy using Squid - running on SuSE Pro 9.3

Got the system installed and Apache 2 up and running, along with Webmin, SQuid, etc

but we cannot get it to connect to the internet via the proxy in YaST 2 to get updates from SuSE's YOU servers

All I get is HTTP Return Code 407.

Any suggestions?

Need it running so we can then route the kids through this server but cannot see what I'm doing wrong

http code 407 means its failing authentication.

have you told squid to ask for authentication?

do you have the username/password in you proxy config. eg yast - Network services -proxy. It might need to be in domain\username format but I'm not sure about that

erm iirc

specify the server's IP as a client address set

allow this Client address set access to the internet with full access.

the ISA server is with our LEA - and we have limited access to it - or should I say - NO access to it!

We are looking at using SQUID to block sites ourselves and keep a log of who's accessing what, rather than having to go through the LEA.

Anyway - looks like part of its working now - as I can get the updates - ones thats all done then i can start configuring Squid properly!

Another vote for dansguardian here. You can make yourself a good setup as well with a modded Smoothwall installation complete with web panel control over all the mods.
