I work in a school which has about 20 EB-X39's, the majority of these were installed during September holiday, but since September at least 1 a month has failed and they're all from different rooms, including some from other schools we manage.

They all fail in the same way - Blue flashing status light/Orange flashing bulb light which according to the Epson error codes means it's an internal error. Each time I contact Epson and get a replacement in warranty within the week, but at least one a month seems a bit ridiculous (two this month.)

Has anyone else had this issue or something similar? it seems most likely like a dodgy batch similar to the EB-X20's a few years back, but these are lasting months, not years.

Got tons of these projectors in our school, around 30 and not seen this issue.

Faulty batch maybe?

Ours are staggered replacements as/when older makes fail. Love Epsom, raise a support call and ask for escalated assistance.

Got loads of this model also and have never seen this type of error

My prognosis is as tefters says

Faulty batch.

Do you maintain them, regularly clean the filter etc?

Could it have overheated causing internal damage?

If they still under warranty Raise the call and have them replaced.

Consider asking for a full recall and a different product batch or alternative model be shipped out to you.

90% of our projectors our Epson and we've never seen this issue (yet) so hope it's just a bad batch and we're not affected! Hope the replacements dont end up the same way.

Long shot. Could you have a problem with yours mains supply and the projectors are sensitive to it? Might be something in the UPS logs to give you a clue? There was a school in North Devon that was forever losing kit because of an overvoltage problem, mainly CRT monitors for some reason.
