Alternative Software for Adobe Creative Suite

Hi

 

I'm at the end of my tether with Adobe software, installs, errors, etc and not to mention the price - £5000 for a year! Adobe you should be ashamed, we're schools teaching students to use your products!

 

Anyway, rant over. Can anyone recommend alternative, cheaper software? We mainly use:

 

Photoshop

Dreamweaver

Animate

Fireworks

InDesign

Photoshop - Depends on the features needed but GIMP may do it

Dreamweaver - Again, what do they need? If it is a WYSIWYG editor then Word could do it, or Sites in Google. If it is to write HTML code, then Notepad will do, Notepad++ will probably be better. Trellian is what I used for a bit but not touched it in a while.

Animate - No idea sorry. Again what is needed? If it is just to animate graphics then that will be easier than making interactive interfaces, but you'd be better off looking for a HTML5 designer.

Fireworks - If it is vector graphics then InkScape should do what you need

InDesign - Scribus does all the DTP you can think of. Just might not look as flashy as InDesign.

I would say GIMP for Photoshop and MS Expression Web for Dreamweaver. I don't know about the other three as we don't use them.

Photopea - Free and even looks like Photoshop.

Runs from browser. No install and can open psd files, export to jpeg. etc.

 

We use it all the time.
