Hello, first time poster just recently landed a job in Education IT support with 3 primaries.

Not the most familiar with how SIMS works and creating/running reports, but a member of staff is getting this error when trying to run a report in SIMS

This I think appears to be an issue with how they are the configuring the report or am I wrong? Is it user error?

I am waiting for them to send details of what exactly the parameters they are using for the report.

The only other instance on here mentions a resolution involving reinstalling SQL-Server, which I'd rather not have to do.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you for your time.

According to KB109424 in the Capita MyAccount knowledge base:

This is caused by incorrect Regional Settings on the affected machine. Go to Control Panel > Region and Language. In the Formats tab set the format to 'English (United Kingdom)'.

In the Location tab set the current location to 'United Kingdom'. In the Keyboards and Languages tab click 'Change Keyboards. In the General tab set the default input language to 'English (United Kingdom)'.

Thank you for your reply.

I had checked as it was suggested in a historical thread regarding this issue, and everything was as set to UK. I mean it ought to be as these settings are managed centrally.

The problem is just one report that can't be run.

It is: Reports -> Attendance -> Whole group pupil reports -> Persistent Absence report - student threshold

Running it for other year groups it works however one specific one - Reception - it fails with the above error.

Tried it on different computers under different users & SIMS users with the same result.

Capita suggested exactly the same as you.

Me no understand-y!

Ah, the solution I suggested was for running reports from SIMS Reporting. For built in reports, it could well be strange characters, or strange dates. You could try another Capita KB suggestion:

In SIMS.net run Tools | Validate Memberships and Tools | System Diagnostics | Database Diagnostics.

If the issue persists then you will need to run Tools | System Diagnostics | Database Diagnostics first. Then, run Tools | Validate Memberships afterwards.

Thank you, I shall have a look!

Apologies for my undefined specifics of the issue.

I've narrowed it down to a specific class within this year group that is returning this error.

2/3 classes run it fine, then this third one the error occurs.

Sorry for bring back an old thread but I am now getting the same error on the same SIMS report and I was just wondering if you can remember how you tracked down the issue and fixed it.

Thanks

Dave
