Disable Photo Printing Wizard in winXP

Hi all,

 

Well i have been asked to find out if this can be done,

 

Basically you know when you want to print a picture and the "photo printing wizard" pops up, i need to stop it from doing that.

 

I have been looking around google but not had much look, wondered if anyone had any idea.

 

I noticed on some forums they were asking for Reg Edits, So dont know if thats the way to go.. if so which one is it

From what I understand it cannot be done. The only way I can think of doing it is setting the image file type to open in a particular program, which you define, and then print through that.

To Disable: Start - Run - regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll

 

To Re-Enable: Start - Run - regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

I posted about that but removed it because I didn't think it was suitable for what he wants.

 

It worked for me on my machine and did disable it. You can't choose what happens when you click the print button though which I'm assuming is what Edu-Tech wants to do.

Yh thanks steve, i found that. tried it did not seem to work going to try it again at work tomorrow... but the command looks the same.

 

Dont see why it dont work.. but as Edu-IT states... if it does work then the button dont work.

 

I think my answer is no but we see what people say

Hmm... this may be of some use but I have my doubts..

 

It seems the "print" command is controlled by this registry key:

 

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\shell\print\command

 

with value:

rundll32.exe %SystemRoot%\System32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen %1

 

Would there be a way to run a different command line to print using something completely different do you think?

That's about as far as it seems to go... Finding anything that will accept command line instructions to print has proven rather tricky to say the least.
