Its a massive office printer from 15 years+ ago and has been working on XP via IP port

Now have upgraded to W10, I need some advice on what to do !!

Go to devices and printers, add local printer, select standard TCP/IP Printer, enter IP, then port of 10001, tick query and next and see what you get from there. If you get no where just click cancel.

I think I tried that a few times in various forms

2nd time it said port 10001 was taken, so I did 10002 etc....

Tried ipconfig /all to see if the printer came up to check the ip address - nothing

Why isn't this easy ??

Because the printer is older than most of your students. Can you ping it? Is there a web interface for it? Can you look to see what protocols it supports from there, and therefore the ports that it’s listening on? Have you installed the Lanier Universal Printer Driver on the server?

If it says it exists already rather then creating a new port click on use an existing port and select it from there. Failing that, install it at LPT1 and then go back and the port can be changed afterwards.
