Netsweeper allowing YouTube for Students

We've just had our Media teacher inform us that students can access Youtube this morning. We have Netsweeper filtering through Schools Broadband. No changes have been made our end, is anyone else seeing this?

I've spoken to them and it is now blocked again, but that's for me, not globally. The guy I spoke to said he believes some new categories for YouTube have appeared which may have caused it. He's logged me a ticket to investigate how it happened as clearly it can't.

Yes they've blocked ours too. I know updates were being done last week on Netsweeper so whether that's changed the policies... Luckily we have lovely students who tell us when things go wrong

This happened again for us this week. Youtube.com allowed but students not able to watch the videos...

Updates don't cause YouTube to be allowed. This only happens when an end user has changed some configuration.

As for YouTube being allowed, there is more than YouTube.com URL to allow before this gets through. I think there is roughly 5 URLs that have to be allowed for YouTube to work correctly.

Wow, there's a sweeping statement, and wrong too. SchoolsBroadband's reply to my ticket I logged when it happened to us and we had changed nothing;

 

I will resolve this case as we have discovered that there was an issue with our categorisation service showing YouTube as a member of the search engine category which is why this has become unblocked. This issue has now been resolved globally.
