Mac Mini - Mojave - VNC - unable to log-in...

We have a Mac Mini sitting in the server room and I've always used it headless due to not needing to access it very much (and not having an HDMI monitor).

 

It's always been fine using VNC to access it so it's never bothered me - but since upgrading to Mojave, everytime I connect I'm presented with this screen...

 

 

I can go to the server room and hard reset and by the time I get back to my office I can then connect, but this isn't a great option.

 

Any ideas?

Tried closing the VNC window and re-opening it? I've found the VNC feed has stopped responding before, and it needed a second connect to reach the desktop.

It's a problem with all remote programs and Mojave. You'll need to plug on a keyboard, mouse & monitor, then go to:

 

System Preferences

Security & Privacy

Accessibility

Click the padlock to make changes

Enter your login details

Click the +

Then add the VNC software. (For ours, I had to add vncagent from /Library/VNC/vncagent)

 

You may need to reboot now.

 

Keep the KVM connected then try to connect remotely. You may to click on the Mac to confirm access.

 

I've had to repeat this with all Mojave updates, removing and readding vncagent each time...

Does Apple still disable the GPU when a monitor isn't connected to a Mac?

 

I vaguely recall having to buy a display emulator to get around this. e.g.

Yes, that is still the case. I use one of those emulators with headless macs.
