TwistedHelixis Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Currently have a server running server 2012r2 and would like to install 2019. I read a post (cant find it now) that not all systems are supported, something to do with CPU paging, but this was a while back and I could be remembering it wrong. The server is a DELL PowerEdge T420 which is almost 4 years old but still under warranty and the processor is intel xeon E-2 4xx v2. On the DELL site for my server it only lists up to server 2012r2 but that page has not been updated in years so is probably out of date. Does anyone know if my server will work with 2019 or how I should find out?
3s-gtech Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 I think you'll find that most issues come from SSE versions. If your server is running Hyper-V, you should be able to spin up a 2019 VM on there to check as the extension pass through. I'd be 99% sure it'll run fine - I'd expect most of my ancient servers (most are pre Sandy-Bridge Xeon) to run it. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started-19/sys-reqs-19 1
