Not Office 2019 Also "onenote windows 10" pllllp. The onenote requires a Microsoft account This is quite annoying as I was hoping to use this for some of our SEN pupils. I'm thinking that I'm not allowed to install o365 on the school PCs as although the pupils have their licence it doesn't cover this use case. so plop.

PotNoodleTech Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Voice typing in google docs is working fantastically here. Have to admit have not tried the MS offering but we don't use Office365 with pupils and google just works so well I doubt we'll change that!

Unfortunately just like Cortana it can't seem to connect to the azure speech service. I need to know what I have to unblock on the swgfl too allow this service.
abaxter2 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 I have mentioned the URL's that need bypassing on a couple of over threads: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/educational-software/203125-dyslexia-voice-text-software-primary-schools.html and http://www.edugeek.net/forums/how-do-you-do/199426-microsoft-word-365-dictation-not-working-school.html But also listing them here: The URL's that I needed to whitelist are: officespeech.platform.bing.com websockets.platform.bing.com These URL's cannot use a proxy server that needs authentication or https inspection, I just added a rule via GPO to not use the proxy server for these URL's. I also found that the dictation that is now built in to Word (Office 365 click to run version) also needs / uses "Office intelligent services" but I found with my devices that use office device based activation, that option to turn this on was not there, so I use the free addon: https://dictate.ms/ this still needs the above URL's whitelisted if you are using a proxy that needs authentication or https inspection, also if you do use the addon use the machine level installation option: https://dictate.ms/FAQ - Scroll down until you see: "Is it possible to do machine level installation instead of user level?" otherwise it will only work for user who installed the addon. Also to note that OneNote also uses the above URL's for its dictation feature. 1
chazzy2501 Posted January 30, 2019 Author Posted January 30, 2019 OK Troubleshooting this with RM this morning and we've found that it is indeed as you state @abaxter2 if we disable the sslfilter proxy that RM uses the dictation service springs to life! I also discovered that whilst using edge to go to bing.com the certificate is flagged (the RM issued cert) I saw when using wireshark (on dictate) that a few queries from the dictation software had the a-edge in them, I wasn't sure if this is related. But if Bing with edge can spot the interjected RM certificate then maybe that's what is fouling the platform.bing.com stuff.

I have had a support call open with RM for over 6 months with this issue, as I have requested them to whitelist at source, but they cannot seem to do it! Hence why I have set the proxy bypass via GPO, and I can confirm that using dictate does work, you just need to bypass the proxy for the two following urls: officespeech.platform.bing.com websockets.platform.bing.com I did also find in the last couple of days that the dictate in OneNote online via Microsoft Edge also needed: ukc-onenote.officeapps.live.com set to not use the proxy server Edited January 30, 2019 by abaxter2
grahamd22 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I got it working to day after a member of staff required dictation and windows 10 version was awful. Word online was great but they haven't released this feature to powerpoint, outlook, onenote yet unless you're in the US! To get dictate.ms to work you need to release: officedictate.azure-api.net as a Custom authentication exception (which we have done in our smoothwall) and it is a vast improvement.
