Fusion 360 - students accounts?

Our students are competing in the F1 in schools, and need to use Autodesk Fusion 360.

I can install it and create free educator accounts, but for the pupils it says they aren't old enough to create an account, even though it says it's valid for Middle schools (which we are).

 

It looks like you should be able to create students accounts but I can't find a way. I've got an account setup as an IT Administrator but it's not giving me any access to add other users.

Autodesk don't offer anyway of pre-registering students. They have to register themselves. We've had lots of problems with students doing this but not being approved. So after 30 days they get locked out and have to wait until Autodesk decide they are indeed a student. We've not taken to setting up some generic accounts for students to use if they can't get logged in. Either because they aren't old enough or there waiting on Autodesks approval.

I find it frustrating that they don't allow federation via Saml (AzureAD/Gsuite/Adfs). It would make it much simpler.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I am confused with the free version of Fusion, it says you can not install this on multiple computers on a network, is there a paid version for schools or are you using the free version in school?

You can sign up for an Educational Account which gives you access to instructions for download an 'Admin' installer for Fusion 360. No MSI in sight of course so I had to come up with a crude batch file to install it. Seems to be working and can deploy new versions when released. (Sign up for email alerts for this, otherwise the first time you get to know is when student can't open work)

Unless its changed the Admin installer needs regular updating, often students will be using latest version at home so you will need to keep pace in school, can be a pain

Interesting, head of DT dumped this on my desk. I am sad to hear people have been having problems getting it working with pupils - the last thing I want for a new bit of software is for it to be difficult to even start using it!

Sorry to bump this, I have been asked about this garbage too. Our students sign up for accounts but they only get a 30 day trial. Plus, when they are asked to pick the school; our school does not show up. One of our students tried the process to "add" the school, but it's been 30 days and our school doesn't show up. Now I don't get the option to add our school at all, it just goes back to the sign up page...

When I signed up for a test student account, I closed the window where it asked for your school. I can sign in to my account OK but now I have no option to tell the account what school I belong to; it isn't in the account options.

 

I'm regretting telling our DT dept. that I'd look at this now. You can see why some people hoist the black flag..

Do I just need to wait and hope the school will show up? or tell DT dept, to just get used to the 30 day trial or get new software?

I ended up creating some generic email addresses, and creating a handful of accounts using them. It was only for a small club so that worked for my situation but it's not ideal if it's for the entire school.
