Theldron Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Hi guys, Hope you are well. Is there anyway to get Sketchup free for non Google suite school? Or is there a cost? We're Office 365 school. Cheers
Katy Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 We ended up setting up the Google School thing (as it's free) and we only use that for logging in to Sketch Up, I turned all the apps off except the ones needed for Sketch Up to work. I let it dirsync on a schedule and we set up ADFS for the authentication so it's using the same passwords as 365/AD.
Ditto Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Hi guys, Hope you are well. Is there anyway to get Sketchup free for non Google suite school? Or is there a cost? We're Office 365 school. Cheers By coincidence, I was trying to install the Sketchup Pro (2017 version) on our server early today, with a view to pushing the install out to the ICT suite. If you look at https://www.sketchup.com/education/grants, the West Berks listed contact may be able to help you out with regards licensing. We are also Office 365 with a traditional (legacy?!) Windows network. I guess one question is do you need the pro version because they seem to offer a browser only version - see https://www.sketchup.com/products/sketchup-free. This is in addition to version targeted to GSuite schools - see https://www.sketchup.com/education/sketchup-for-schools. One thing to check which ever route you go, is look at minimum specification - I think it's basically that you'll need to support OpenGL v3 or above, but do check - here seems to be the place - https://help.sketchup.com/en/sketchup/sketchup-hardware-and-software-requirements. Hope it works out - do let us know!
CatWilson Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 I read your post regarding Sketchup being Free, disabling non relevant apps etc. However I have looked and looked and just cannot find a link to a free solution. Our DT dept is desperate to get this going (aren't they always) so I wondered if you could point me in the right direction?
AJB123 Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 How about this link ? https://www.sketchup.com/products/sketchup-free
Whisky Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 We use Sketchup 8 which isn't cloud based. We deploy that through SCCM using the msi supplied with the following command line: msiexec /i "GoogleSketchUp8.msi" /q LicenseAccepted=1 INSTALLGOOGLETOOLBAR=0 SETDEFAULTSEARCH=0 Not had anything to do it with it for a couple of years now. Just deploys and it's still being used in the classroom.
Ditto Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 How about this link ? https://www.sketchup.com/products/sketchup-free Yep, that's the one. I'd suggest using Chrome but a 5 second try suggested it will work in Edge (Yuk!). It was a little slow starting.
