London Academy of Excellence (LAE) is seeking to recruit a Senior Technician to provide support to the school. LAE is an ambitious, academic state sixth form college in the heart of Stratford, close to the Olympic Park and just two minutes from Stratford Station (zone 2/3), with excellent links to all parts of London.

 

The academy was established in 2012 to provide opportunities for young people in Newham and neighbouring authorities seeking to access to a high quality academic A-Level education in preparation for application to some of the UK’s leading and most competitive universities. In the intervening five years it has done just that!

 

The Senior Technician will further enhance the IT services to over 450 students and 50 staff. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking to take on more strategic or management responsibility, leading project work and moulding service improvements, whilst still remaining very hands on.

 

You will be managing the day to day tasks of a junior member of staff, as well as being the liaison to 3rd party support. Ideally you will be able to guide and reduce what external support is required, until the department is able to manage more effectively on its own, and that is a really exciting aspect of this opportunity. You will be working closely with the Business Director and SLT to establish a strategic plan in line with business requirements and core values.

 

This is a great opportunity to take the lead with support, and would appeal to technicians who want to be more pro-active in how IT services are delivered and enhanced. It will also enable you to work alongside Independent partner schools including Brighton College, Eton College and Highgate School

 

Essential technical knowledge includes AD, DNS, DHCP, Network Switching (ideally HP), Windows 7 and 10, and Office 2016 and O365

 

Desirable tech knowledge includes Windows Service 2012 or above and Hyper-V (or similar), G Drive, iSAMS, Firefly, Papercut, Cunninghams, Inventry, Impero, Lightspeed and Voip to name but a few
