DJ-1701 Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Cheers for that. Might make me spend money to go up there. I wonder what exams they have going this time.
thimon Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Sweet! Took three exams last year at BETT, was told before I arrived that they were fully booked. However I rocked up on the day and the room was empty

thimon Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Yeah... that is the strange thing, I was able to just walk in last year too. Booked a slot just in case Only Sat afternoon left to book
DJ-1701 Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Booked a slot just in case Only Sat afternoon left to book Just had a look and it seems you can still book the morning?
DJ-1701 Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 The problem with booking when you don't know what exams they have is that one could possibly book too many or too few slots.
thimon Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 It's an hour and a half slot, should fit in most exams. From memory you choose on the day what exam you take?
GrumbleDook Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Might see if I can get a few MOS certs out the way.
willtech Posted January 10, 2019 Author Posted January 10, 2019 I don’t think their is any restrictions as far as the site says I could be wrong.
willtech Posted January 10, 2019 Author Posted January 10, 2019 Just noticed as well in the pre-register page: Free Preparation if you Pre - Register: We want to give you the best possible chance of earning your Microsoft Certificate at BETT 2019. If you pre-register for an exam, you can contact us to receive access to free practice tests to prepare in advance of BETT.
elsiegee40 Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 They have had these booking restrictions every time they do this. In practice they have taken walk-ins and allowed any number of entries every time 4
elsiegee40 Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 The biggest challenge will be working out where they are doing it. They never seem to advertise it clearly. The only time we knew for certain was the year when our stand was next to Microsoft. An A4 sheet appeared on their stand blu-tacked to the point facing our stand with details of how to find the test room. 1
thimon Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 (edited) The biggest challenge will be working out where they are doing it. Wasn't listed on the App or any maps last year. Found out where it was from a Microsoft rep on their stand Edited January 11, 2019 by thimon
tg12 Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 The location does appear to be on the first page linked in the OP. Finding it though is a whole other matter! Decided to register for this as I'm down in London that week and thought it wouldn't hurt to do some. As someone who's never done any certification like this before, what can I expect from the exams? Also, how does the awards on these work? Are the exams modules for an overarching certificate? 1
Ditto Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 Looking for some advice here, as if I get up to BETT, I might fancy a a go - never any harm in certificating skills. As a long time user of the MS stack, but never having had any formal training of examination, what would you suggest targeting? I'm reasonable on most the suite, a bit behind on One Note and publisher, strong on Excel and decent on Word. I have some spare time between now and the show. Are the exams closed book? Is internet access blocked? Of course in the real work environment, a big chunk of my skill is to investigate, learn and resolve, but I'm guessing tests aren't structured that way?

IE it actually devalues the level of experience I would claim.

Your career history would show whether or not you were a new starter. Whether they would make any difference to someone with several years experience is another thing, but there's no harm. For someone like me, with all my certificates so old they are chiselled into stone slabs, they would demonstrate that I have actually moved with the times and demonstrate that I do understand some of the modern stuff. If nothing else, they're a discussion point at interview... "I decided to do them on the spur of the moment at BETT out of curiosity" Edited January 11, 2019 by elsiegee40 2
Localtechie Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 Just booked for the Thursday - I did a few last year and was basically the only person in the room despite them telling me it was really busy so hoping the same again this year.
elsiegee40 Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 (edited) Now tracked down: Head for stand G350 and go up the stairs on the wall facing that stand Edited January 23, 2019 by elsiegee40 2

AJWhite1970 Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 It’s in Suite 19, right at the very end of the left hand side as you come out of the stairs at the top. Sat outside it now and people are dropping in and starting all the time
AJWhite1970 Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 If you are thinking of doing the MCE exam then unlike the Office exams you can’t just turn up and wing it, you have to have read the 21st Century Learning Design document as 90% of the question are based on the rubrics. The document can be found here:- https://education.microsoft.com/GetTrained/ITL-Research It’s a tough exam, there have only been 3 passes in the first two days (my OH being the first one!!)
