Happy New Year to you all!

Could be a long shot, but here it goes...

When we have any school productions such as our Christmas nativity or Year 6 productions - I film them, parents are informed that DVD's are available and pay for X amount of copies via our online payment system. I then have the fun job of burning XYZ copies before our ordering cut off - after this time, the DVDs are then distributed out.

This system has been working nicely for us for a number of years. However, not all parents have access to DVD players or computers with a DVD drive to watch them. Also, there is the expense of buying the physical medium and the bits to make the flipping things!

I would like to modernise our system and move future productions to a secure service online - Ideally, parents would still purchase copies in the same way via our school payment system. However, after the ordering cut off, they would get a link/s instead that would allow them to either download the production or stream it to a device.

One big hurdle for us would be the GDPR and safeguarding side.....so my question is...have any other schools gone digital with production filming? If so, what solution did you use to overcome the above issues? or did you fold?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :o

At a guess the majority don’t as the standard production / performance license that schools usually purchase prohibits filming for resale as doesn’t include synchro rights (iirc, dependant on the production, or any songs / music used in that production for the case of in-house authored productions using commercial music) Edited by Marci
