Aruba wireless costs

Anyone know how much the aruba AP's cost and how much the management switch is? I just need rough estimates if possible.

15 waps and 1 switch was quoted to me at £6712 pounds.

 

The controller itself is over £3K.

Plus the controller can only server 16 waps.

 

My 50 WAP licence for Airwave AMP plus the server to run it on was about £3K.

You might want to look at the Netgear Prosafe kit - I have heard it is Aruba under the bonnet... don't use it myself though so can't comment further...

That sounds about right, which company did you use to buy(and install?)?

 

Also are people using POE switches to power the AP's or something else, This will push up the costs alot I guess.

31 APs, 4 POE 48 port switches (subsequently found out that the controller is also POE ), 48 port controller, new cabling to all APs, installed & tested C £40K. (Could have saved £2.5K if we'd been told that the controller was POE)

Works fine. 100% uptime so far (only been a week or so though) and clients have no problems connecting - even 15 or so on a single AP if the logins are staggered sensibly.

Just finished [ Monday ] sticking another 800 switch on our network to go with the extra access points - £3,697 and 54 pence for the switch and £267.67 for the Access Points AP61s.

Now got both 800 switches working in Master / Local mode - will sort out some load balancing on the AP over half term...

Had lots of fun configuring the new switch - NOT.

So does that mean if we choose to add a few more / upgrade them to a different standard at any time we can use the Neagear staff?

They 'forgot' to tell us that and I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. D'oh. Still I've got a nice shiney new POE switch to hang some security cameras off of now.

I would seriously look at the Netgear kit, as Western says, its Aruba under the bonnet: we bought 18 AP's, 3 controllers for £4500 from Misco, and re-provisioned our existing WAG102 AP's to work with the controllers, now got managed coverage over almost the whole building with 36 AP's installed, kit is very reliable and easy to set up. The controller switches have some nice features and I was very impressed with them. If it will do what you want it will save you a lot of money.
