MAT using One Drive and Google Drive

Hi all

 

Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm after some advice on a tricky MAT cloud setup that I hope my fellow edugeeks can help me with.

 

 

I support half of the schools in a MAT made up of primary schools and some of them are on Office 365 and utilising One Drive while other schools use G-Suite so are using Google Drive, to further complicate matters to collaborate between schools they are using a shared Dropbox account but this constantly keeps filling up to its capacity and they don't want to pay to increase this given One Drive and Google Drive are free. I am also personally concerned about them using Dropbox for GDPR reasons.

 

I have suggested creating a new domain/cloud solution for the entire MAT but I don't think they will go for that as the schools want to stick with their current cloud solution and I'm sure they would prefer not to have two accounts they have to check.

 

I thought about Dropbox for Education but it seems crazy to pay for a solution when there are free options out there.

 

One of the heads has asked me for ideas to overcome the problem with Dropbox and the best way to move forward for the entire MAT. Any suggestions or what other MATs have done would be much appreciated. I've come across Flow in O365 but I dont know much about it.

G Suite will soon allow you to share Docs with non g suite users so this might be a way forward for you.

I guess they were set up before they joined the MAT? Are you migrating everything else? AD, domains, MIS etc to one system used by them all?

 

Step 1 is to find out what features they're actually using. Step 2 based on that and future possibilities, work out which is best. Step 3: Migrate current users to new shared system. Step 4: migrate users of the other systems, probably via the people who interact with the other schools first
