Hi, feel like I'm going mad, what does the following mean, ie what have we currently got set and as I think a few of us are all falling over each over getting confused and we're normally pretty good with group policy but think we've had a mare

It means your user's passwords must be at least 6 characters and they are not stored using reversible encryption.

 

The other settings are not defined and so are left at the default.

 

If you right click> properties the setting and click "Explain" then it will detail what it does, rather than me try and write a wall of text here.

Then the password still won't expire.

Having 'Password never expires' unticked is basically saying 'this account's password ~can~ expire, if Group Policy wants it to'.
