markwilfan Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 (edited) Hi Guys Our MAT is keen to join our networks together and share IT resources i.e. centralise lots of things. We were just wondering if there are any Network Managers in the South West that would be happy to meet up with us that have gone through a similar project. We're after the traditional WWW EBI stuff and what you wouldn't repeat if you could do it again. We have already met up with @localzuk who very kindly hosted us for a cuppa and a chat Thanks in advance Mark Edited December 17, 2018 by markwilfan
markwilfan Posted December 18, 2018 Author Posted December 18, 2018 Anybody? We're based in North Somerset/Somerset. We're very friendly too
FN-GM Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 You're welcome here but we are in the north west so might be a bit far.
Zoom7000 Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Very welcome here too, but we're based in the South East, so again, not just a stones throw away.
elsiegee40 Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Very welcome here too, but we're based in the South East, so again, not just a stones throw away. But you are very handy for BETT should @markwilfan wish to combine the two 1
Zoom7000 Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 But you are very handy for BETT should @markwilfan wish to combine the two True, but seeing as I'm at BETT all week (And presenting at Google this year!)... A visit will be another issue altogether as I won't be at school!
markwilfan Posted December 19, 2018 Author Posted December 19, 2018 But you are very handy for BETT should @markwilfan wish to combine the two Thanks @elsiegee40 cracking idea. We're there on sat this year. If anybody could spare us 30 mins or so that would be brill

PotNoodleTech Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 It does make total sense to merge everything into one active directory, one google tenancy, one SIMS server, etc. I would do this if I had a Mat of my own. Provide a central IT support team of highly trained professionals to serve all the schools.

markwilfan Posted December 19, 2018 Author Posted December 19, 2018 Hi, Are you joining two secondary school's together? 3 secondary schools and 3 primaries currently. We want to build a "standard package" for when the trust grows.

When staff move sites at the moment it's a bit of a faff and as we all have separate systems I can only provide support on my site to my users. I did see someone describe this as "turkeys planning Christmas" once but it really excites me and pooling our resources we'd have an awesome team
markwilfan Posted December 19, 2018 Author Posted December 19, 2018 Ah of course, yes, that'll work perfectly! @Zoom7000 If I could steal some of your time on the Saturday I'd be really grateful. Will be just myself and my tech as the others didn't want to go to BETT this time.
