MrLudwig Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) Hi, I'm trying to get SOLUS 3 UI working on my desktop PC following a clean Windows reinstall. The install seemed to go through without a problem, but I haven't been able to register our site. All I get now is an error saying "No registration key found on this machine, please re-register." Click on the Re-register button, enter a password and then I get an error saying "Failed to register site. An error occurred saving the deployment service security key, please contact your local support unit: Object already exists." My local support unit haven't been a great deal of help. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, but the same thing keeps happening. It won't save the security keys because it says they already exist. So is it possible to get SOLUS UI to use these, or can I delete them (wherever they are) so SOLUS UI can save new ones? Thanks. Edited December 14, 2018 by MrLudwig
splattthecat Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Check you have read / write permissions to C:\ProgramData\Solus 3 where the keys are stored 1
MrLudwig Posted January 10, 2019 Author Posted January 10, 2019 Hi Splattthecat, Thanks for your suggestion. I checked the folder permissions and all seemed fine. I added myself specifically with full control just in case but it didn't solve the problem. However, it did give me the idea of copying the key file from a working installation on another computer into that folder, which has solved the problem. Thanks again for your help, the error has been bugging me for a while and your suggestion pointed me in the right direction .
MrLudwig Posted January 10, 2019 Author Posted January 10, 2019 is dot net upto date? Yep, v4.7.2 installed. Now that I've copied the key file from another computer into the folder splatthecat mentioned above it all seems to work as normal, it just wouldn't create it's own key file to start with. Thanks

MrLudwig Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 Which file is the key file? Sorry Arcath, I can’t remember the specific file, plus I no longer work at the same school so don’t have access to the computer this was happening on to check.
howartp Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 I'm intentionally replying to an old thread here as it's the first and only search result on google for this issue. The answer is actually in a KB article on Capita support, but to save anyone coming to it in future looking for the answer: On the new server with the new "SOLUS Deployment Service", close the SOLUS UI then go to c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA Right-click the MachineKeys folder, go to properties then security. You'll find nobody has any permissions to the folder. Edit Administrators and give them Full Control. Now re-register your site in SOLUS UI. 1
