WestCoastCumbria Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Hello again, Carrying on from my earlier thread a few days ago I was able to install the custom patch using dbAttach thanks to the advice on here. The problem was no-one knew the sa password, I was able to use SQL Management Studio to get in and create a new password and happy days dbAttach connected and all good. Now I can't open Solus 3 Deployment UI, login failed for user sa. I've tried the Solus 3 Connection string editor and that's fine if the SQL is unticked and it is ok when it is ticked. The event logs (id 18456) show 'the password did not match for the login provided'. So now I'm a bit stumped. Management Studio lets me log in as sa and I can get to anything in there and dbAttach still connects fine. I feel I'm missing something simple, I'm happy to log a call but I would rather see if there's something obvious I just haven't thought off. Thank You
DrBeaker Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Afraid not. Your support company are the experts in this, best to log a call with them. I've found some very knowledge and helpful folks at ours in the Midlands. They've helped me out no end with SIMs issues and advice. However I am always intrigued at what the issue was and how they fixed it, mainly out of IT curiosity. The way IT is these days, you simply cannot be an expert in everything - as you sometimes could years ago. Those days have gone.
Meldrew Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 You'll need to uninstall and reinstall SOLUS3. The sa password is in a .config file somewhere. Encrypted, so you can't just update the file to reflect that you have changed the sa password. The only way is to re-install, so that you get prompted for the sa password again. There are 3 components to SOLUS3 and I can't remember if you need to uninstall all 3 or just 2 of the components. I'm sure someone else on here will remember... Meldrew. 1
Greg Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 The SA password is stored separately in the SOLUS3 database You can uninstall and then reinstall the Deployment Service and the SOLUS3 UI with the correct account Make sure you have everything you need to reinstall these before you start and are ok doing it, there is an instillation guide, contact your support provided for it 1
Greg Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 When you're back in SOLUS3 check what account is set to authorise upgrades in Environment | Targets | Databases and Environment | Targets | Services If it's the SA account then you'll need to change the password there too 1

WestCoastCumbria Posted December 14, 2018 Author Posted December 14, 2018 Found a list of passwords, the original does not work so its been changed since then, going to try the others.
WestCoastCumbria Posted December 14, 2018 Author Posted December 14, 2018 God bless Capita, managed to find the install notes with the original sa password so why on earth I have another password documented I don't know, to make me sweat. Up and running now so thank you everyone.
