Westley_IT Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Hi. I have an old 'job' in xporter that is surplus to requirements as we no longer subscribe to the linked service. Is it possible to delete it? If so, how? Thanks very much.
fredbayker Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 You have to login to the server where groupcall is installed and start the groupcall Xporter dashboard and I think you can delete the jobs in there. 1
localzuk Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I'm fairly sure that you just need to uninstall the program that installed the jobs to do this. You can't delete them in the console itself. For example, I have an installer in Add/Remove Programs called "Groupcall Xporter, Meritec Jobs". If I uninstall that, it will remove the relevant jobs. If there isn't such an installer, I'd contact GroupCall support to ask them. 1

I have just added a 'MeritecData' job via a company installer. I'll have to see if I still have the relevant file for the redundant job. If not, I will do as you say and contact Groupcall. @fredbayker - Just in case you need to know, localzuk has the right of it. Sadly, there is no facility to simply delete a job on mmc-Xporter. That said, thanks very much for chipping in. 8)
Quatermass Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Slightly off topic, but we were also given Groupcall's newer On Demand school portal thing as well as Xporter. I can see that the portal helps with GDPR etc, but it's not exactly a replacement for Xporter - or is it? Seems like more of a complimentary overview rather than an actual tool. For example it's only in Xporter itself that you can see job times, job failures etc (and indeed, force one to re-run if it fell over). Meanwhile SMHW, for example, asked us to "upgrade" to the new XOD over the summer, resulting in their job disappearing from the old Xporter interface. We are confused! Would love to have a clear explanation of how these systems interact, Groupcall site seems pretty information-free Groupcall's opacity as a system running on our server has always annoyed me!
localzuk Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 It isn't a replacement - it actually uses Xporter as part of the system. There aren't "jobs" as such for XoD links - as the requests for information are, well, on demand. The system needing data can request it as and when. The XoD portal shows you what these systems are, and shows you what they do. 1
Quatermass Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Many thanks, even that basic knowledge wasn't imparted to us! So, just to check my understanding is correct : The portal shows us all our data sharing (Meritec, Biostore et al). "Old style" jobs such as Biostore are still visible in Xporter. But a "new style" job such as SMHW no longer appears in there, it's just an on demand thing - which we agreed to - via Groupcall's connection to our server?
localzuk Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Indeed. The XoD jobs show in the web portal, along with a basic "these jobs exists" listing for the old style Xporter jobs. Each XoD job has an explicit agreement to be enabled.
Quatermass Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 So with a newer job like SMHW, out of curiosity how does it actually work - do they still pull data directly from our server, or from Groupcall? Is there any evidence on our server of their access like with the old jobs? Logs, for example?

Is there any evidence on our server of their access like with the old jobs? Logs, for example? It goes through XoD - which uses Xporter. They can trigger jobs remotely. In Xporter there are a bunch of jobs "EmergeXodXXXXXXX-". These are what get run to actually extract data.
Quatermass Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Thanks again. I assume unconnected with the Emerge server we had installed on our SIMS server at one time? (which allowed a teacher to collect data on a tablet and then it would sync with SIMS).
