Millsy79 Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Hi Is their a way to disable the ranger bar thats displayed at the login screen or even disable the menus that are available from it. Our pupils are constantly messing with it even though the only person it contacts is the person who is controling them. They see the word chat on anything and its like a frenzy and they must click on it.
rdhawkins Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Millsy79, Do you mean the black bar that appears at the top of the screen when a teacher connects with Ranger Remote Control? If so it can be configured or removed altogether from the Teacher machine, go to View->Current Settings on the Tutor program and select Student Toolbar. From there you can turn off things like Chat, Help Request etc as well as remove the toolbar altogether. Rob
Millsy79 Posted April 29, 2008 Author Posted April 29, 2008 No it appears in the background of the logon screen of windows. at the point were you are asked to press ctrl alt del to login their is a small minimized window when you click on the maximize button it displays a couple of menus with options such as chat and join class. if the child selects chat it initiates a chat session with the machine that is controling them. they can also submit requests for help from it.
rdhawkins Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Ah ok, that must be part of the Ranger Suite rather than Ranger Remote Control. That isn't our product so unfortunately I can't help, I'm sure someone else will have an idea though. Rob
markcuk Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 thats ranger remote control... you have to configure it and turn all those features off on each machine. have a look at Sentinel Products Designed for Education | Home mark

Also when installing do not select "install configurator"... this should get the ranger off of the desktop

Doh! Actually it is ours. Sorry! Yes its the remote control client, as people have pointed out you can configure the client to be quite in which case it won't appear before the login, you can also disable the chat menu. Sorry for the confusion! Rob
