Blocking Google Search Query Games

Morning all!

New to EduGeek.

 

I wondered if anyone has recently been successful at blocking google search query games like: Snake, Pacman...etc

 

I can't just block the search query for "snake", plus no matter how you type snake, it will give you the game to play on a desktop or mobile/tablet.

 

Using Lightspeed Filtering & Sonicwall Firewall...

 

Not sure what to do!

Those games rarely pose a risk any more than wasting time, so something the majority put down to classroom control over and above anything else. If it's a primary I'd consider using another search engine such as kidsafe rather than Google for that purpose, but otherwise I'd suggest chalking it down to a non-technology problem similar to stopping them turning their calculator upside down and typing naughty words.

Did you try asking Lightspeed as they are charging you for providing the service? As the other poster suggested it isn’t anything apart from time wasting, in education, we teach students not to waste time, maybe perhaps teachers could help promote nontime wasting activities in school? Though if a students wants to waste time he/she will even staring at an empty wall will do the trick at least with snake and Pac-Man their brain is working out.....
